2009 Summer G.O.A.L. Workshop

Girls Arts and Leadership Summer Program

If you know of a talented young girl who would benefit from the combination of arts experience and leadership skills building, now is the time for her to apply for the GOAL (Girls’ Opportunities through Arts and Leadership) Summer Arts Intensive at the Durango Arts Center

GOAL offers girls entering 6th. through 9th. grades in August of 2008 an opportunity to be part of a dynamic arts experience emphasizing self-exploration and self-expression through the creative process.  This summer’s theme will be “Gifts We Bring” and include workshops in pastel, sculpture, collage, mixed media, dance, book arts.  Girls will explore the qualities of a good leader and their own innate gifts for leadership through games, movement, role playing, collaboration and the visual arts.

Fifteen spots are available for this unique program.  Applicants should have a strong desire to develop both their artistic and leadership abilities.  Application forms are available at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East 2nd. Avenue.  Deadline for registration is June, 2009.

The cost of the program is $400 and some scholarship funding is available.
